If you carefully read the four gospels … Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, you will find that Jesus had a serious problem with the Pharisees. I hope you know why. It is because they were preaching something they did not follow. So, Jesus called them hypocrites, and the bible is clear that hypocrites will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
I am sharing this because to be a good teacher; you must be careful to live out your teachings before your children and not be a hypocrite. Show Jesus to your child through your daily life – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Remember, you are the living mirror to reflect the essence of Christ in your children’s spiritual lives.
4. Remove Every Distraction During Teaching Time
Distraction is a powerful barrier to stand between your teaching effort and your toddler’s learning experience. Even a slight distraction can have a severe effect on the entire teaching and learning environment.
Remove any distractions like noise, objects, or images irrelevant to your teaching time, etc. It is your responsibility.
Choose a place for teaching the bible lessons to your children where there is no noise or sound. Let it be a rule to postpone every task that could distract you during bible storytime. It is critical to imparting your teaching.
5. Ensure Physical Comfort For A Better Learning Experience
If your children feel physically comfortable, then the entire learning experience will become more effective and memorable. Our body and mind are closely related to each other.If our body is disturbed, then our mind will be distracted and vice versa. A good practice is making sure your child is wearing comfortable clothing, is not hungry or overtired.
6. Be Active and Energetic While Teaching Bible Lessons
Teaching with energy, zeal, and enjoyment will always create positive energy in the mind of your listeners. Use your creative ideas to make the bible teaching time more engaging and exciting. Include voice modulation, body movements, and facial expressions to add interest.
7. Ask Your Kids Questions To Attract Their Attention
Ask them questions frequently to encourage them to be good listeners. You will be able to increase their attention span and their active participation. Create some competition among the children. As a parent, it is your responsibility to teach your children the practical application of every lesson you teach. For example, if you are teaching Jonah’s story, make sure they can see how to apply the lesson to their day-to-day lives. Disobedience to God always brings consequences you won’t like. Now teach them Jesus commanded us to love our neighbor as ourselves, so if we love them the way we love ourselves, we won’t do anything we don’t like to them.

Bible lessons will become truly alive in a real-world practical case. Let us understand this with an example. Job’s story teaches several lessons:
- “Worship God even in your suffering and hard times.” Job 1:20.
After the death of Job’s children, Job fell to the ground and worshiped the living God, even amid all his sorrow and suffering.
- “Don’t abandon your integrity.” Job 2:9-10.
Even though Job’s wife told him to curse God, Job did not abandon his trust in Godbut waited for His redemption.
When you see your child going through a hard time, remind them of the lessons from Job.
