The Boy Who Lived Again | 1 Kings 17:21–22 | Elijah Series — Volume 1: The Fire and the Whisper
A gentle Bible story meditation inviting children and families to pause, reflect on God’s compassion, and remember that He hears us when we cry out to Him.
A Still Moment — Only One Life Story
In this Still Moment, Elijah faces a moment of deep sorrow inside the widow’s home. The boy who once laughed in the house grows silent, and grief fills the room. But through prayer and faith, Elijah discovers that God not only provides for our needs — He also hears our cries and brings hope when everything feels lost.
The Elijah Series — Volume 1: The Fire and the Whisper
This meditation is part of the Elijah Series — Volume 1: The Fire and the Whisper, a journey through the life of Elijah where we discover how God speaks through courage, quiet waiting, and miracles.

Bible Story Meditation
Scripture Focus — 1 Kings 17:21–22 (KJV)
“And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, I pray thee, let this child’s soul come into him again.
And the LORD heard the voice of Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.”
Supporting Scripture — Psalm 34:18 (KJV)
“The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart;
and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.”
Entering the Still Moment
Take a slow breath in…
and gently let it out.
The widow’s home once rang with laughter and the smell of fresh bread.
But today the room feels quiet and heavy.
The boy lies still, and sorrow fills the house.
Elijah carries the child to the upper room and turns to God in prayer, trusting that the Lord who provides bread and oil can also bring life again.
Meditation Reflection
In that quiet upper room, Elijah did something simple but powerful — he cried out to God.
He did not pretend to be strong.
He prayed with all his heart.
And the Bible tells us that the Lord heard the voice of Elijah.
This story reminds us that God listens when His people pray, especially when our hearts feel broken or afraid.
Even when the answer seems impossible, God hears every cry and draws near to those who trust Him.
When have you needed God to hear your prayer the most?
