The Lost Lamb | Luke 15:4 | Walking with Jesus — Volume 1: Saved & Loved

A gentle Bible meditation inviting children and families to pause, reflect on Jesus’ words, and walk closely with Him.

A Still Moment — Only One Life Story

Sometimes we feel unseen, forgotten, or far from where we belong. In today’s Still Moment, Jesus tells a story about a Shepherd who notices when even one lamb is missing and goes searching until it is safely home again.

Bible Story Meditation

Scripture Focus — Luke 15:4 (KJV)

“What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it?”

Entering the Still Moment

Take a slow breath in.
And gently let it out.

Imagine standing on a quiet hillside early in the morning. Dew sparkles on the grass, and sheep graze peacefully across the green hills.

The Shepherd watches over them carefully.

Suddenly, He pauses.

One sheep is missing.

Without hesitation, the Shepherd leaves the ninety-nine and begins walking down the hill, searching through rocks and shadows.

Because every sheep matters to Him.

Meditation Reflection

In Jesus’ story, the Shepherd does not ignore the missing lamb.

He notices.

He searches.

And when he finds the lost one, he does not scold it or leave it behind. Instead, he lifts the lamb into his arms and carries it safely home.

This story shows us something beautiful about the heart of God.

When people feel lonely, forgotten, or far away, God does not look the other way. Through Jesus, He comes searching with love and patience until the lost are found.

The Shepherd knows each sheep by name.

And that means something wonderful:

He knows your name too.

Where might the Shepherd be gently calling you today?
